Incense Church

The Church has long controlled the spice trade and armoates through the Crusades. Tithing not to say the tribute, was often perceived as precious resin, silk and spices. That is why the substances in these mixtures are first quality and still relatively expensive, even today.

The real church incense

This is the original recipe, still used today during the Sunday mass.

5 parts Frankincense 3 parts of benzoin

3 parts myrrh 2 parts
storax
1 part sandalwood 1 part
coal pulverized wood
1 part sugar

Incense Jerusalem

This mixture was used particularly at Easter.

4 parts Sandalwood
3 parts Frankincense 2 parts Myrrh

1 part Benzoin 1 part
storax
1 part of powdered charcoal
1 part sugar

The Incense of the Magi (another recipe)

Traditionally, this mixture is one that did burn the Magi at the birth of Christ. Even today, it is used during the Midnight Mass at Christmas.

3 parts Frankincense 3 parts Myrrh

2 parts of benzoin

Incense Reconciliation

In general, the Church used incense during services; incense reconciliation but a somewhat different story. It combines two substances completely opposite polarity energy that normally mingle with many other resins or herbs. In this case, the marriage of these two polarities we are trying to accomplish.

1 part myrrh 1 part frankincense


myrrh are placed on hot coals, then poured frankincense a movement which forms a cross on the myrrh reciting the following prayer:''That

this mixture of myrrh and frankincense accomplished
the One who is the very principle of union and of all love.
Amen.''
